Harvest Appeal
Each year, Dalgety Parish Church chooses a charity worthy of support for its Harvest Appeal. Support alternates between overseas and home-based charities.
Our recent overseas support has been towards Engcongolweni CCAP Church, our partner in Malawi; although support in the past has been given to the Leprosy Mission, Chernobyl Children, House of Hope in Bethlehem, Hope for the Hungry in Sudan, Feed the Minds and the Nazareth Hospital. At home, we have supported Frontline Fife Homelessness Services, Fife Action for Autism, The Rock Trust and The Connexion, amongst others.
In 2011, our Appeal was for Engcongolweni, split between our Church House project and the Piped Water Project. The magnificent sum of £4,000 was raised – from donations, a film night, some help from Dalgety Bay Primary School and reclaiming tax from gift aid.
This year (2012) our Harvest weekend will be 15/16 September and our support will be going towards the Dalgety Bay Day Care Centre. The Day Care Centre celebrates it Silver Jubilee this year and as a birthday present to itself, it has decided to extend the size of its premises. While major aspects of the work have attracted grants from various organisations, there are lots of smaller things needing funding so, as part of our care in the community, we will provide some funds to cover these aspects.
